Long Distance Walking Event - May 24th-25th 2025
The Parish Clerk has received advance notice of an event that is due to take place in 2025. It is being advertised early to enable any concerns to be addressed in good time. The above is a screenshot map showing the route as it affects Kettleburgh.
The Event Designer tells us:
"My walking club, the Norfolk & Suffolk branch of the Long Distance Walkers Association [LDWA] is currently in the process of planning the National LDWA flagship event "The Hundred", which is to be held in Suffolk in 2025.
This is the first time in 50 years of the event happening that it has been held in East Anglia.
Approximately 500 walkers will start walking from near Ipswich on Saturday 24th May 2025 and will attempt to complete a 100 mile circular route non stop, except for occasional checkpoints, on foot, within 48 hours.
The proposed route passes through Kettleburgh after Framlingham from the previous check point at Brandeston and heads out towards Easton at around the 34 mile stage of the event and we estimate walkers will pass through the Kettleburgh area between 1800 on Saturday 24th and 0400 Sunday 25th May 2025.
Whilst I appreciate this is 14 months in the future we just wanted to inform you of the likely increase in footfall around the area for this short period and welcome any comments or questions you may have or am happy to come out and meet you to discuss the event in more detail.
Please do not hesitate to contact me on chellearmour@yahoo.co.uk
I also aim to talk to/put leaflets through doors of houses that may be more affected by the event.
Kind regards
Chelle
